What Makes McCann’s Different?

At McCann’s we are very proud of our long tradition of excellence in dance instruction. Here are some of the things we feel make us such a special place.

Instruction:
Our instructors are all adult professionals with years of teaching experience. Some studios allow inexperienced assistants to instruct classes by themselves. We would never have students in classes without proper professional instruction.
While many studios restrict the parents’ ability to see their child’s dance class, our studio features large viewing windows into all studio rooms. This gives parents the opportunity to observe quality instruction as it happens.
We choose music and choreography that is tasteful and age appropriate.
Instructors personally size each student for costumes. Costume styles are carefully chosen. We are not out to make a profit on costumes, so our costume costs are kept as low as possible.
Scholarships are available for those that are in need.
Instructors are caring and deeply committed to their teaching and our curriculum.
There are also many classes and rehearsals that are offered at no additional charge. For example, we offer free beginning pointe classes for those advanced ballet students starting on pointe, and we offer many hours of free help to seniors as they develop choreography pieces for the recital. And just for fun we have free family dance rehearsals, dance sleepovers, and dance movie parties.

Environment:
We offer a comfortable reception area with magazines and toys, free WIFI access, and cable TV for the pleasure of waiting parents and siblings.
Our website is very informative and interactive, putting at your fingertips information about the studio activities, class pages and calendar. We also feature a studio blog. The website is updated frequently.

Show:
We hold our annual show at the beautiful Hershey Theatre. Some studios charge a “show fee” of up to $100 and/or require the purchase of an ad in the show program. At our studio the ticket price covers all the expenses incurred producing our show. This includes the theatre rental, union tech costs, lighting design, rented full color painted professional backdrops, lighting equipment, etc. We also provide you with an ad-free program as a souvenir.
Younger dancers sit in the audience for our show, not in a dressing room.
We open our show with a digital movie presentation featuring all our students, including highlights of the dance year, as well as a special tribute to the graduating seniors.

Thank you for letting us “toot our horn” a little by pointing out some of the unique things that make us the studio …
